13/12/2011 - Geminids Meteor Shower. Considered by many to be the best meteor shower in the heavens, the Geminids are known for producing up to 60 multicolored meteors per hour at their peak. The Geminids, named after the constellation Gemini, together with the Quadrantids, are the only major meteor showers not originating from a comet, and can appear almost anywhere in the night sky, often yellowish in hue.
